We’ve spent many hours curating clear, high-quality, detailed photos for each of the species in Gather. Here is a quick overview of the different ways you can view them.

Details Page

When you click on a species from the month view, you’ll be brought to the “Details” page for it. At the top, you’ll see the first image for that species.

In the bottom left, you’ll see an indication of what kind of feature the photo shows.

In the bottom right, there will be a number “1 of X”, showing you how many images we have for that species.

You can swipe left or right to go through each of the images, but you can also click on any of the images to be brought to an assortment view of all the photos.

Here, you can either see all the images at a glance with the ‘grid’ view or vertically scroll through them with a card view.

In the card view, you’ll also see a caption at the bottom, which we use to explain some of the important features or characteristics we think are helpful for learning that particular species.

You can tap any of the images in either of these views to go to the species details page.

The final page where you can view images is the “Image Detail” page. Here you can now pinch to zoom in on the photo, which can be helpful to see smaller details, like the number of petals on a flower, or tiny hairs growing on a stem. You can horizontally swipe left or right to cycle through all the photos for this species.

Here you can also find more details about the photos if they came from Creative Commons, like the author, and the source URL.
